After registering at the Kilimanjaro National Park gate, enter a world rich with life and color. Marvel at the fairy-tale-like giant groundsels and striking giant lobelias, plants uniquely adapted to this extreme environment. Along the way, take in your first clear views of Kilimanjaro’s twin peaks—Mawenzi and Kibo, the latter of which you’ll soon be summiting. Day 3 Acclimitization day at Horombo Hut

Today is all about acclimatization, so you’ll stay a second night at Horombo Hut. No need to pack your bags—just lace up for a rewarding hike to the iconic Zebra Rocks, known for their striking black-and-white streaks, and the base of Mawenzi Peak. Here, you’ll be treated to stunning views of Kibo looming over the vast saddle. After your walk, return to camp to relax, put your feet up, and recharge for the days ahead. It’s the perfect opportunity to rest, adapt, and prepare for the climb to higher altitudes.

Today, you’ll embark on a trek into the stark beauty of the high-altitude desert, crossing the rugged, boulder-strewn saddle that links Kibo and Mawenzi. Once you reach your campsite, the rest of the day will be focused on preparing for your summit attempt. Take this time to organize your gear, enjoy a hearty meal, and rest up for your adventure to the top is just around the corner!

Day 5 Kibo Hut - Uhuru Peak Summit -Horombo Hut

Prepare for the ultimate challenge as you make the final ascent to Uhuru Peak! You’ll be awakened around 11:30 PM to start your journey just after midnight. This is where your grit and determination truly shine, and the reward is nothing short of spectacular—a breathtaking sunrise illuminating the horizon behind Mawenzi.

As you push towards Gilman’s Point (5,685 m), take a moment to catch your breath before continuing along the crater rim, passing Stella Point on your way to Uhuru Peak. Pause to soak in the stunning views of the crater and shimmering glaciers before beginning your descent. After retracing your steps back to Kibo for a well-deserved breakfast and rest, you’ll continue your journey down to Horombo Hut. The air here will feel wonderfully rich in oxygen after the summit, and a long night’s sleep awaits you.

Day 6 Horombo Hut-Marangu Gate

On your final day on the mountain, savor a hearty breakfast and take a moment to express your gratitude to your incredible crew before beginning your descent. As you make your way back through the lush forest, enjoy a leisurely lunch at Mandara Hut, soaking in the serene surroundings one last time. Continue down to Marangu Gate, where your guide will present your well-deserved summit certificates, a testament to your incredible achievement. A warm welcome awaits you as your driver meets you for a transfer back to your hotel, where you can indulge in a long hot shower and celebrate your extraordinary journey with friends and fellow climbers.
