This tour starts and ends in Arusha. The Oldoinyo Lengai is the only active volcano on the planet that erupts carbonate lava, which causes the lava to have a temperature lower than normal, approximately 500 ° C. The best time to climb the mountain is at night when temperatures are lower, which is why we are forced to start the ascent at almost midnight, which also makes it a unique show.
In the morning, meet the driver-guide at your hotel and drive to Lake Natron. On arrival, you will visit Lake Natron to see flamingos.
Lake Natron is one of the major breeding sites for the flamingos in the area. After dinner, you will relax waiting for the mountain climbing, which starts around midnight due to the hotter temperatures during the daytime.
You’ll continue your climb in the early hours of the morning, intending to reach the summit in time to witness the sunrise as it illuminates the Great Rift Valley below. After reaching the summit, you will enjoy breathtaking views of the salt flats of Lake Natron to the north, the Kenyan border in the distance, snowcapped Mount Kilimanjaro and the Great Rift Valley to the east, and the stretching Ngorongoro Highlands and Ngorongoro Crater to the south.
With your guide, you will explore the peak and enjoy a picnic breakfast at the summit of active Mount Ol Doinyo Lengai volcano before beginning your climb down the mountain. You’ll enjoy the refreshing waterfalls and swimming after descending. After a hot lunch at the campsite, you will drive back to Arusha, where your safari ends upon arrival.
